How many days till Dragon Con?

Well it's coming along....

Got the piping onto the helmet. Slit the tube down the back and used split brads to hold it onto the helmet through a series of holes. You can kinda see the brass brads through the tubing.

Also have the comic book version of the jetpack almost ready for painting.

The lens in the back will light up, and even though the bottom grate does have a red lens, not much light will be directed there.

Sewed the epaulettes, wrist straps, and side straps for the jacket. Also have the main body of the jacket done. (notice those buttonholes, boy howdy!)

Comic Book Jetpack

If you know the comic book version of the Rocketeer, then you know the jetpack was completely different. The movie version is much more well known, and in my opinion a much cooler design.

My friend who I'm going to Dragon Con with is doing the female Rocketeer. So she wants the comic book version of the jetpack. She can sew, but I'm a bit more handy with making props. I had plenty of cardboard tube left over to build her a single jetpack.

I Solemnly Swear That I Am Up To No Good

Been a bit since I posted last. So much thinking on how to complete different aspects of the costume.

One piece of magic that I did get was a buttonholer attachment for my sewing machine, not a button hole foot, but a gizmo that does magical things like make a button hole in 5 seconds.

Here is a sample cuff I made to see how the vinyl would look.

 Progress on the Jetpack....
It's surprisingly lightweight, but once I get my CO2 jet system in it, I'm sure it'll give me a back ache.
What CO2 jet system? Oh you'll see...I hope.
I'm changing certain details, after all it has been captured and modified by the Germans.
Behind the center vent is where the speaker will be.

Ready to start adding the details to the helmet.

A little progress...

Been sick for a few days. But just got the tubes mounted to a back plate at the right angle and a little more finishing on the helmet.
